REVISIT THOSE NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS

It seems as soon as the clock strikes midnight on January 1st, our resolve to make new positive changes in our life is at its peak.  For many of us, however, this resolve doesn’t last past February.  With summer finally here bringing better weather and a fresh perspective, it is time to revisit those resolutions that we made back at the start of the year.

Eating Healthier:  Nothing can derail a diet more than deprivation and strict rules.  Cutting out complete food groups can also derail the most diligent diet plan.  That is why I wrote an ebook Have Your Cake and Eat Your Veggies Too to make dieting a fun and pleasurable experience.  Odds are if it is fun and enjoyable you’ll do it for life.

Getting More Exercise:  Back to my philosophy in the book Have Your Cake and Eat Your Veggies Too, if you make exercise a fun and enjoyable experience you’ll do it for life and look forward to it rather than dreading it.  Find something that you enjoy doing and watch your health and fitness levels soar.

Relationships:  It is easy to focus on everything that is going wrong in your relationships.  Negative phrases enter your mind like, “My children don’t pick up things,”  “My husband doesn’t help enough with the house.”  Try instead to focus on what is going right.  Make a list of all you love and appreciate about your partner or children, or other relationships.  When you focus on the positive, you’ll be able to appreciate the good aspects of your relationships and the bad aspects won’t appear as large of an issue.

Finances:  One of the greatest financial lessons I received from my family was living beneath your means.  Even in a consumer driven society with a doodad around every corner, you can have financial freedom by simply having the discipline to pay yourself first.  You’ll regret all those impulse buys later down the road when retirement or a real emergency appears.  What do you do with all your hard earned stashed away money?  Check out my ebook 50 Tips for a Great Retirement for sixty pages full of ideas, including how to stretch your dollar far.

Going for it!:  Resolutions often mean setting and achieving new goals.  Often, however, we look at the monumental task before us and get overwhelmed.  That is because we first need to break the goal into easy to manage pieces.  Just as we wouldn’t eat a whole piece of pizza in one bite, we wouldn’t tackle a large goal instead of first breaking it down into easy to manage “bites”.  For more help on achieving what you want in life check out my ebook, How to Get What You Desire.

Whatever your resolutions entail, having the right tools to see them to completion is the first step.  It takes discipline and motivation, but don’t also forget to have fun and celebrate all that you’ve accomplished thus far.  Life is meant to be enjoyed and savored and that is the best resolution there is.  Go for it!
